Mike Zimmer didn’t like the sideshow aspect of Johnny Manziel’s pro day to end all pro days, but that doesn’t mean the experience was a total waste for the Vikings head coach.

Zimmer did find a useful way to spend his time at College Station. He hit up his old pal Kevin Sumlin.

What did Johnny Manziel’s college coach talk about with Zimmer while they caught up (probably shouting at the top of their lungs to hear each other over the loud music streaming through the sound system)?

Sumlin won’t go into specifics, but he admits that at some point he and Zimmer did steer the conversation around to the man of the hour.

“I was a GA at Washington State for Mike Price, my first job. Mike Zimmer was the defensive coordinator. We’ve known each other a long time and I hadn’t seen him since he got the (Vikings) job,” Sumlin told NFL.com. “We were just talking about a few things, but yeah, I’m sure Johnny came up in the conversation.”

And what exactly did Sumlin tell Zimmer about Manziel?

Maybe he gave Zim some advice on where to take Manziel for dinner. Does Johnny like Mexican?

By now, Zim probably knows more about Manziel than he even wants to.

But then again you can’t be too careful. The QB thing…it’s only the entire future of the Vikings franchise on the line.

No pressure.
