Josh Freeman Visited the Bears

Josh Freeman has been the forgotten man in free agency this offseason, but with quarterback options growing thin, at least one team has given the former Viking a ring.

Jason La Canfora reports that Freeman visited the Bears on Monday.

The Bears have an opening for a backup QB after Josh McCown‘s defection to Tampa Bay. Jerrod Johnson and Jordan Palmer are the only other quarterbacks currently listed on the roster.

Freeman probably qualifies as more of a project right now than a sure #2, but the Bears do have Marc Trestman, a noted QB guru.

Guys like Trestman will always be intrigued by a talent like Freeman, and will always think maybe they can help a guy like Freeman get his career back on track.

Freeman needs a lot of work, as Viking fans found out last season.

The Vikes picked Freeman up in 2013 after his release from Tampa Bay, and quickly learned why Tampa cut him loose. Terrible mechanics plus terrible attitude.

Freeman displayed how far away he is from being a viable QB during one totally forgettable performance against the Giants. After that, he never saw the field again.

Maybe Marc Trestman can fix Freeman, maybe he can’t. At any rate, Freeman can now say he at least took a visit this offseason.

Good for him.
