Each year the Vikings use their allotment of draft visits all at once by hosting a top 30 prospects event at Winter Park.

This year’s top 30 event will go down next week, and Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater is expected to be a part of it.

Though nothing is yet confirmed, it appears Bridgewater is the only one of the top QB prospects who will be invited.

Ben Goessling of ESPN says, as of now, Blake Bortles, Derek Carr and Zach Mettenberger, three other QBs potentially on the Vikings’ radar screens, are not invited.

Goessling reminds us that, in past years, the top 30 event invitee list has been a somewhat poor indicator of draft interest. First round pick Harrison Smith, for instance, was not at the event in 2012.

So it’s anyone’s guess what Bridgewater’s participation in the event really means. It’s possible that they like him and feel they need one more meeting before the draft.

Or it’s possible that they’re just bringing him in as part of Rick Spielman’s grand smokescreen.

Who can even begin to comprehend the designs of Spielman? His mind works on a level far beyond us mere mortals.

If Teddy Bridgewater is a mere pawn in Spielman’s larger game? At least he gets a nice Twin Cities trip out of it. He can check out the Mall of America while he’s in town.
