Vikings Draft Targets: Watch Zach Mettenberger’s Pro Day Workout

Someone was nice enough to put a video of LSU QB Zach Mettenberger’s pro day workout on YouTube.

So now you may watch Mettenberger throw, and evaluate him just like all the experts.

First thing you may notice is that Mettenberger is wearing a helmet and pads just like Johnny Manziel. Guess that will be the normal thing now.

Second thing you may notice is that big old brace on Mettenberger’s knee. Not a surprise given that he is only three months removed from major knee surgery.

Third thing you may notice is the lack of sideshow atmosphere. No loud rap music. No ex presidents in golf carts. No Drake.

It’s very business like compared to Johnny Manziel’s choreographed workout. It’s also not as crisp as Manziel’s workout, but that’s to be expected given where Mettenberger is.

Mettenberger is not going to be as sharp as these other guys, because he has been rehabbing from injury and hasn’t been able to throw as much.

The main thing for Mettenberger on Wednesday was to just get out there, move around, show off his arm. I don’t think anyone expected him to be 100% on target.

If you want to watch Mettenberger unleash the long ball, fast forward the video ahead to around 8:40.

Is this a guy the Vikings should look at in the second round? Can he be the future of the franchise?

Hmm…

I see a lot of potential in the kid.

Not so much his accuracy on every dropped ball but a lot to blame on those receivers.

He impressed me overall by even being out there. That short of time and already in pads / helmet throwing and moving around , to me , speaks that he wants to be a hard worker and has determination.

Wouldn’t be mad if we went defensively in the first round and scooped this kid up in the 2nd.
