2014 NFL Draft: Saints Screw the Vikings Out of Johnny Manziel

You didn’t think there was any possible way the Saints could screw the Vikings tonight did you? Well you thought wrong.

The Saints, even without knowing it or trying to, stuck it to the Vikings.

You know that trade the Browns made to get up to #22 and get Johnny Manziel? The same trade the Vikings were trying to make before Cleveland swooped in?

That trade only happened, according to Jay Glazer, because the Saints took WR Brandin Cooks after their own trade up.

Yup, it’s true. Had the Saints not gotten Cooks, the Browns would have waited for him to fall to them and would not have moved up for Manziel.

The Vikings would have been able to make the deal with Philadelphia and get Manziel themselves.

So, the Saints are the reason Johnny Football is in Cleveland right now instead of Minnesota.

And you thought you hated the Saints before? We will remain strapped to that particular karmic wheel forever, evidently.

Wow I’m a huge fan of the Saints now. Thank God he’s in Cleveland and not Minnesota

As a packers fan, i was hoping johnny foosball was going to be wearing purple next year too.

Lol smart move… Manziel would have made life much less stressful for the other NFC North teams.

The Vikings did good by not getting him

  • Mark Van Dorp

Vikings came out and said they were trying to move ahead of Cleveland because they thought the browns were going for Teddy. I’m pretty sure Zimmer hates Manziel

  • Paul Engleson

Thank God Jonny Football is in Cleveland and NOT Minnesota Zimmer & Manzel would of clashed so mistake averted Thanks N.O. I really appreciate it.

  • John Burris

Too bad (from New Orleans). Your organization was idiotic for not taking a QB with your first pick. When you’re desperate for a decent QB and good ones are available, you PULL THE TRIGGER.

    • John Burris

By the way, Saints losing a pick to trade up when several good receivers would have available at 27 was stupid too.

  • Daniel Laxen

Perhaps the trade was all about Bridgewater? Then the Vikings said they were interested in Manziel to try and hold out until they could trade back in? Look at the teams that were left in the 1st at that time. Nobody needed a QB. Then Seattle emerged and they have been a dance partner with Minnesota before and needed picks. I NEVER thought the Vikings were interested in Manziel. I felt it was about Teddy all along especially after Bridgewater spoke…

both teams should have taken Carr

More baseless conjecture from a hack writer.

  • Bob E.

Manziel is Tebow without the arm strength and durability/size for how they play. Flashy in college means liability in pros. Thank you Saints.

  • Justin Weishaar

Hate the saints and hate not getting johnny. But bridgewster is a fine consolation prize. Very happy right now. And I realky wanted johnny. But I am thrilled with the draft haul
