2014 NFL Draft: Minnesota Vikings Select DT Shamar Stephen

The Vikings have three seventh rounders to use up this year after Rick Spielman’s spate of trades.

Seventh round pick #1 is used on UConn DT Shamar Stephen.

The 6-5, 309 pound Stephen is viewed as a large and powerful run stuffer who will give you very little as a pass rusher, at least in the initial stages of his NFL development.

So, the Vikings appear to have just drafted a potential back up to Linval Joseph at the nose tackle position.

Mike Zimmer gives himself another defensive line piece to play with.

The Vikings have now gone defense with three straight picks.
