2014 NFL Draft: Minnesota Vikings Select LB Brandon Watts

You want defense? You get defense.

For a fourth straight selection, the Vikings have beefed up their personnel on D. With their second pick of the seventh round, the Vikings select Georgia Tech LB Brandon Watts.

The 6-2, 225 pound Watts is a solid athlete who played outside linebacker with the Yellow Jackets. Speed is probably his greatest attribute.

He started two years at Georgia Tech, finishing his career with 16 tackles for loss.

Watts’ ability to run will make him an intriguing option as a special teamer and a back up linebacker. The Vikings appear to be fairly set starter-wise at the OLB position with Chad Greenway and Anthony Barr in the fold.
