The Vikings got a third man on the PFF Top 101. Running back Adrian Peterson locks down the #38 spot, joining Phil Loadholt (98) and John Sullivan (87) on the website’s run down of the league’s top-graded players for 2013.
PFF said of Peterson:
It was always going to be hard for Peterson to follow up his remarkable 2013 campaign and so it proved. Now that’s not to say he had a bad year, and without injuries limiting his playing time (and performance at times) he likely would have finished much higher. Still forced a very healthy 58 missed tackles that were second most of any running back while ending the year our third ranked runner. For most that would bring smiles to their faces while we suspect for Peterson it’s just extra motivation to finish higher next year.
Adrian may be only #38 on the PFF list, but he is still #1 in our hearts.
And he’s overpaid but that’s an argument for another time.
Just a hunch, but I bet Peterson’s ranking on the NFL Network top 100 will be higher than 38. Peterson’s respect level around the league is off the charts and that factors in to the voting. He’ll be ranked higher than his actual production suggests he should be.
