Another draft pick has signed on the dotted line for the Minnesota Vikings. Sixth rounder Antone Exum made it eight out of ten picks locked down for the Vikings when he inked his four year deal Wednesday morning.
That leaves only RB Jerick McKinnon and DE Scott Crichton unsigned from among the Vikings’ 2014 draft class.
Exum joins the Vikings after an injury-plagued final season at Virginia Tech. In January 2013, Exum suffered a torn ACL while playing pick up basketball. Despite being medically cleared at the start of the football season, Exum elected not to play right away.
When he finally did get on the field, Exum lasted only three games before suffering a sprained ankle that ended his season once and for all.
Questions about Exum’s health and desire conspired to knock him down in the draft. The Vikings are hoping that he’s gotten past whatever problems may have been plaguing him, physical or otherwise.
If Exum lives up to his promise, the Vikings may have gotten themselves a steal in the sixth. Exum possesses good size, speed and leaping ability and can play multiple positions in the secondary.
