In this year’s NFL Draft, the Vikings selected defensive back Antone Exum in the 6th round. Although Exum was listed as a cornerback at the time of the draft, the Vikings will look at him as a safety in the new system.
During his time at Virginia Tech, Exum made it clear that he didn’t lack confidence. He prides himself on his play on the field. When Minnesota was scouting him, they must have seen this fire inside of him. One place the Vikings may not have looked at Antone Exum during their scouting process was the music industry.
Exum spoke with Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press in a one-on-one interview following the team’s OTA’s and answered a few questions about his music career:
“I started making songs up just for fun and some of my close friends said, ‘Man, you should write some of this.’ The feedback I got was really good, and they really liked it. So something I started doing for fun, I started to take it seriously and I kind of recognized that I have a little talent here.”
Antone Exum raps under the name Tone. He has songs about his abilities as an NCAA cornerback, rehabbing from ACL injury, and other topics. A few of his songs are available on YouTube. Here are two of them:
There are more songs available on YouTube and there should be more songs being made. The rookie defensive back has some talent on the microphone and should be able to manage both a football and rapping career.
