When you’re fighting for a roster spot, you know you’re never safe during the offseason. Even if you’ve been with a club for a couple years, all it takes for you to be packing your bags and moving is one player to be released that the team likes better.
That’s exactly what happened today when the Vikings released DB Kip Edwards and claimed DB Julian Posey from waivers. Here is the official announcement on the Minnesota Vikings Twitter account:
The #Vikings have waived DB Kip Edwards and have signed DB Julian Posey.

Kip Edwards was a member of the Vikings practice squad last year, but was hoping for an opportunity to advance his career this preseason. Instead of going that route, the Vikings decided to place a waiver claim on Julian Posey.
This will be Posey’s fourth team in 4 years. He has spent time with the Jets, Dolphins, and Browns before making his way to Minnesota’s team today.
Here are Posey’s statistics over his 4 years in the NFL:
- 7 games played
- 1 game started
- 1 sack
- 3 tackles
Posey stands 5’11” and weighs in at 187 pounds. While he’s significantly smaller than Kip Edwards, he does bring some experience to the team, even if it is just a little bit. Julian Posey will be fighting for a spot on the 53 man roster of the Minnesota Vikings this offseason.
