Palestine, Texas has been the home of Adrian Peterson Day for the last 8 years.  The town loves to celebrate their hometown hero and all the accomplishments that he has achieved.  This year’s event will be held on June 21st.  Normally, there is a party and a parade, but this year will be a little different.

During a phone interview with Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press, the events of this year’s celebration were laid out by Carol Pegues, the founder of the event.  Carol is also the cousin of of the star running back.  Here’s the quote from Tomasson’s interview:

"“We’re going to have free screening for high-blood pressure, an eye clinic, a dental clinic. We’re going to have information on where people can go if they’re homeless. It’s going to be more serious. It’s going to be a health fair. The parade will return next year.’’"

The focus on wellness is a great thing for this year’s Adrian Peterson Day.  Helping people get and stay healthy is very important in this day and age.  Monitoring your blood pressure and taking care of your eyes and teeth are things that some people can forget about when they are busy.  And helping out the homeless is a fantastic thing as well.

If you can attend the event, it should be a great time.  Adrian Peterson himself will be on hand to give a speech for all those on hand.
