Kevin Williams Signs One-Year Deal With Seattle

Some Viking fans like to joke, somewhat ruefully, about Seattle being Vikings West. Those folks probably aren’t going to like the news that another former Viking has made the move to the Pacific Northwest to join the NFL champion Seahawks.

More from Minnesota Vikings News

Per ESPN, defensive tackle Kevin Williams has become the latest Viking to join the caravan from Minneapolis to Seattle, signing a one-year deal with the Seahawks.

Williams said in an interview several days ago that he was still in contact with the Vikings, and he also indicated he had spoken to the Patriots. Seattle showed interest in Williams early on in free agency, but they decided to wait on him, knowing that signing him later would be advantageous for them when it came to calculating compensatory draft picks.

K-Will had a solid 2013 season for the Vikings, grading out as a top 30 defensive tackle per Pro Football Focus, and even at 34 should still have plenty of value as a rotational player for the Seahawks.

Percy Harvin, Tarvaris Jackson, Heath Farwell, Sidney Rice and Darrell Bevell got their rings with Seattle last year, and Williams hopes that Minnesota-to-Seattle magic will work for him this year, so at least once in his career he can savor ultimate victory.

Wish him good luck or ill, as you personally see fit.
