Mike Zimmer predicted when Captain Munnerlyn went on the PUP list that Captain Munnerlyn wouldn’t be on the PUP list very long, and gosh darn it if old Zimmer wasn’t right.
Wednesday morning, the Vikings gave their fans a nice piece of news to brighten up their breakfast by announcing that Munnerlyn has indeed been activated from PUP.
The cornerback, who was signed to a 3-year, $15-million deal in March, had been hampered by a hamstring injury suffered while working out prior to camp. The Vikings erred on the side of caution by shutting Munnerlyn down for the first few practices.
Munnerlyn has now been cleared and may resume practicing with the team. In his absence, multiple Vikings have been rotating through the slot with the first team, including rookies Kendall James and Jabari Price. But not veteran Josh Robinson, because Josh Robinson can’t play the slot.
Munnerlyn’s activation leaves TE Chase Ford and S Andrew Sendejo as the only players remaining on PUP. Cordarrelle Patterson has been unable to fully participate in practice while he recovers from a foot injury.
