Congratulations go out to Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater for winning the Week 4 Pepsi Rookie of the Week award.

Week 4 was Teddy Bridgewater’s first NFL regular season start, and he made the most of that opportunity from the very beginning.  He showed poise in the pocket and accuracy that is very unlike a rookie in his first NFL contest.  Here are his statistics from the week 4 game against the Atlanta Falcons:

Winning this award wasn’t easy.  Bridgewater faced some stiff competition for the Pepsi Rookie of the Week award.  Many rookies had fantastic games during week 4 of the NFL season, but here were the four other players who were nominated for the award on the NFL.com website:

  • Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars – Quarterback
  • Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Wide Receiver
  • C.J. Mosley. Baltimore Ravens – Linebacker
  • Jerick McKinnon, Minnesota Vikings – Running Back

Teddy Bridgewater was forced to make this start against the Falcons early than expected after a fractured foot put starting quarterback Matt Cassel on the shelf for the season.  For his first performance as the Minnesota’s starting quarterback, it was a very encouraging effort that found Vikings fans very impressed with his efforts.  Sadly, Bridgewater exited this game with an ankle sprain and was unable to complete the game.  If he had finished, he possibly could have ended with even better numbers.

Once again, congratulations to Teddy Bridgewater and the Minnesota Vikings on winning the week 4 Pepsi Rookie of the Week award and also for the win against the Atlanta Falcons.
