The Vikings’ depleted practice squad was filled out Tuesday when the team cut McLeod Bethel-Thompson and added QB Chandler Harnish, WR Donte Foster and S Pierre Warren.

Turns out Warren wasn’t the only safety the Vikings took a look at. Per Aaron Wilson, the team also worked out former Packers DB Jerron McMillian.

A fourth round pick of the Packers in 2012 out of Maine, McMillian lasted just two seasons in Green Bay before being cut. The highlight of his Packer career (if you can call it that) was probably the illegal hit that concussed Tony Scheffler and contributed to the tight end’s early retirement.

McMillian was signed in January by the Chiefs but was cut by Kansas City in August.

The Vikings also had former Cowboys safety Ahmad Dixon on the practice squad for a brief time earlier this year but he was plucked away by the Bears.

Veteran safeties Chris Crocker and Kurt Coleman both got a look in camp but were let go at final cuts. Former starter Jamarca Sanford was released from IR with an injury settlement and has since landed in Washington.

Another one-time starter, Mistral Raymond, remains on IR.

Current starting safety Robert Blanton has been fairly unproductive and at times downright brutal. Backups Andrew Sendejo and Antone Exum continue to mostly contribute on special teams.

Safety is a little bit of a problem for this team, is what I’m trying to say.
