Yesterday, it was announced that the Minnesota Vikings would increase their contribution to the new stadium in Minneapolis by over $500,000.  Today, we got a little more details on that from the official Minnesota Vikings website.

According to the article, the team’s contribution will go toward the following things:

  • Mobile beverage carts in the concourses
  • An additional elevator for convenience
  • Improved skyway system to the stadium
  • Upgraded executive suite level
  • AND MORE!

This brings the stadium budget to approximately $1.024 billion.  The public contribution for the stadium remains unchanged at $498 million, but the team’s contribution has now increased to $527 million.

Here is a great tweet from the Vikings official Twitter page about the progress of the new stadium and some cool facts about the new building:

Minnesota will continue to play their home games at TCF Bank Stadium at the University of Minnesota until construction is complete on the new stadium for the 2016 NFL season.  The stadium will be used for much more than just Vikings games, as it will also host events like the NCAA Final Four, soccer games, the Super Bowl and hopefully pay per view events like WWE wrestlemania as well as concerts from mega stars.

It’s always good to see improvements being made to the new stadium.  This will be the home for the Minnesota Vikings for what will hopefully be a very, very long time.
