Two years ago the Minnesota Vikings decided they could no longer deal with Percy Harvin’s issues for the sake of his on-field production.

This week another team decided the talented-but-mercurial Harvin is not worth the headache.

The Seattle Seahawks have traded Harvin and all his baggage to the New York Jets in exchange for a conditional mid-round draft pick, reports Jay Glazer.

That return is a far cry from the three picks the Vikings got for Harvin when they dealt him to Seattle.

Soon after trading for Harvin, the Seahawks signed him to an eye-opening six-year/$67 million contract.

Whatever the Seahawks’ ultimate reasons for trading Harvin, people are going to assume the main motivating factor was a desire to be rid of his legendary poisonous selfishness and locker room destroying attitude.

Harvin clashed with coaches in Minnesota, reportedly throwing a weight at Brad Childress at one point, and later having a verbal altercation with the mild-mannered Leslie Frazier.

Harvin was also hurt all the time and not exactly eager when it came to undertaking rehabilitation. He also was not a big fan of practice.

The Seahawks got little out of Harvin in 2013 and hopes that he might finally produce on a level befitting his contract dwindled quickly in 2014 as his offensive role gradually became smaller.

Seattle obviously decided that they were never going to get the return on their investment that they hoped for and they cut their losses.

The Jets are Harvin’s third team since he was drafted in 2009. We’ll see if New York, who currently are 1-6 and in total disarray, can finally find the magic formula with Harvin.

I wouldn’t hold my breath. This guy may be a great talent but he is trouble from the word go.

Good luck Rex Ryan and Geno Smith.
