Rookie DE Scott Crichton Could Get His First Snaps Sunday

Playing time hasn’t come easily for Minnesota Vikings rookie defensive end Scott Crichton.  Since coming to the team as a 3rd round draft pick, he has been inactive for the team on every regular season game day so far.  But that could change on Sunday.  An injury to veteran defensive end Corey Wootton could provide a spot for Crichton to be active against the Bills.

Corey Wootton is dealing with a back injury that will keep him out of the game on Sunday.  In his place we could finally see Scott Crichton on the Vikings active roster against Buffalo.

Here is what Crichton said to ESPN about the possibility of playing on Sunday:

"“They haven’t told me anything, but I know Corey is out so I’m just getting ready,” Crichton said."

So while we’re not absolutely sure that Crichton will get his first regular season action this week, it sounds as though he’s preparing as if he will get that opportunity.  Personally, I was a huge fan of Crichton coming out of Oregon State.  I actually had him picked to get drafted in the end of the first round in my final mock draft this year based on his natural pass rush ability and speed.

Hopefully, we’ll get the opportunity to see a taste of what Scott Crichton has to offer the Minnesota Vikings in the future.  I know that I’ll personally be watching the game on Sunday hoping to see him involved on the defensive line or on special teams.
