Redskins Hope RG3 Creates A Strong Run Game On Sunday

On Sunday, the Washington Redskins will play the Minnesota Vikings.  For only the third time so far this season, they will have the luxury of a healthy Robert Griffin III to play as their starting quarterback.

While there is a mixed reaction as far as Vikings fans opinions on whether or not RG3‘s return will be a huge boost to the Redskins offense, the one major thing that he brings to the team is quarterback mobility.  If the Vikings defense can force him to scramble out of the pocket, the young quarterback can make teams pay by picking up a lot of yardage with his legs.

Recently, Redskins offensive coordinator Sean McVay spoke with The Washington Post about what Griffen does for Washington’s offense.

"Oct 6, 2014; Landover, MD, USA; Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins (8) talks to offensive coordinator Sean McVay (L) and Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III (R) against the Seattle Seahawks at FedEx Field. It’s nice having that element where Robert can really stretch the field vertically with his arm and having those guys that we have at receiver down the field.”"

“Those Guys” down the field are dangerous.  Deep ball threat DeSean Jackson is a threat to beat an opposing cornerback at any time and Pierre Garcon is a more than capable pass catcher.  With those weapons and Griffin’s mobility, Washington can be a potent and dangerous offense when operating efficiently.

When Griffin is healthy, he can be a real asset to Washington’s offense.  The Redskins were patient with their high-profile quarterback, making sure he was completely healed before inserting him into the team’s lineup.

"“Like Coach Gruden has alluded to the whole time, if he’s going to play, you don’t want any limitations,” McVay said. “You want to give our team and him the best chance to have success and unless he 100 percent, you’re not going to put any restrictions on him.”"

Will a fully healthy Robert Griffen III be the difference maker in Sunday’s game between the Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings?  We’ll find out Sunday when the two teams clash.
