The Minnesota Vikings defense had the pleasure of meeting up with superstar quarterback Robert Griffin III on Sunday.  Griffin can be a nightmare for NFL defenses because of his ability to run with the ball as well as keep plays alive with this feet.

While the Vikings did have their hands full with the speed of the Washington Redskins offense, there were a couple players that really shined in the victory.

Harrison Smith had an amazing game.  Despite getting flagged for a controversial roughing penalty, Harrison Smith ended the day leading the team in tackles.  He brought down ball carriers 10 times in the game, also helping to contain RG3 as well as drop back into pass coverage when needed.  Smith has proven himself to be a versatile safety who can do whatever the team needs in any situation.

Also, Everson Griffen made the day really hard for the Redskins offense.  His speed around the edge resulted in him bringing down RG3 for a sack in addition to 6 total tackles.  Griffen’s acceleration and non-stop motor are his greatest strengths.  On Sunday, he was matched up against Trent Williams, who allowed just two sacks in Washington’s previous games.  Overall, it was an impressive game from the first year starter.

Here are some other notable performances by members of the Vikings defense:
