The NFLPA Wants Adrian Peterson Reinstated Immediately

Now that the legal issues surrounding Adrian Peterson have been resolved, many fans and experts felt that he would be taken off the Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission List.  Sadly, that hasn’t been the case yet.

On Friday, the NFLPA (National Football League Players Association) sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell saying that Adrian Peterson no longer meets the qualifications of the list and should be removed from it immediately now that he has reached a plea agreement in his child endangerment case.  The star running back pleaded ‘no contest’ to a misdemeanor, resulting in probation and a fine.

If Roger Goodell and the NFL don’t react soon to this letter, Adrian Peterson will have a non-injury grievance filed on his behalf by the NFLPA. That grievance would demand that Peterson be removed from the Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission List immediately and be placed on the Vikings active roster.

Although right now it is rumored to be split in the Minnesota front office as to whether or not the team currently would want Peterson back, they would be forced to make a decision regarding his status with the team.  The Vikings would either have to activate him or release him following the removal from the list.

At the moment, it sounds as though Peterson is facing a six game suspension that would be made up of a combination of time served from his stay on the Exempt list and fines that he could pay to offset the money that he would have lost during the proposed suspension period.

What do you think will happen?  Will the NFL make a decision regarding Adrian Peterson’s status on the list?  Or will the NFLPA be forced to file a grievance on his behalf?  And how long will it be before he is able to make his return to football?  Discuss it in the comments below.
