Recently, it was reported that if action wasn’t taken regarding Adrian Peterson’s status on the Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission List that the National Football League Players Association would file a grievance on behalf of the star running back.

That grievance was filed today.

It was reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the NFLPA officially filed the paperwork today to demand that Adrian Peterson would be removed from the Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission List since his legal issues have been resolved. Here is a quote that Schefter included in his Facebook post:

"“We asked the NFL to honor the terms of that agreement last week and as of now, they have failed to respond or comply. It is our obligation to protect all players’ rights, and we will pursue any and all breaches of any contract between a player and his team or the NFL.”"

Adrian Peterson and his attorney are both hopeful that the running back can return to action as soon as Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.  Now that this grievance has been filed, the NFL will be forced to either reveal what is slowing down the decision regarding his status or remove him from the Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission List.

This should help expedite things for Adrian Peterson’s camp now that the NFLPA seems to be firmly behind the running back in getting him removed from that list.

Expect a statement from the NFL to be released within the new few days regarding this grievance.
