Vikings aren’t worried about the weather against Bears

The weather for the game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears has been the talk of many beat reporters leading up to Sunday’s game.  As of now, the forecast calls for 35º temperatures with howling 14 mph winds and a chance of snow. Despite the chilly forecast, the norsemen say the weather won’t be much of a factor in Sunday’s NFC North tilt.

The Vikings are practicing indoors while their outdoor practice field is thawing out, but coach Mike Zimmer had the doors open today to attempt to simulate the conditions the Vikes will face on Sunday. The temperature indoors fell to 26º, though Zimmer said “I would just like to get outside.”

In regards to the Vikings rookie QB Teddy Bridgewater playing outside in the NFC North “he did play at Uconn and it was like 20 degrees and it does get cold in Louisville.” Bridgewater said to the Star Tribune about playing outdoors “I’m feeling confident, I know that it is going to be different but it’s all a mental thing.”

Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner told the Pioneer Press that “If it’s just cold like it is outside, I think you can go throw the ball, and throw it at a high level.” Vikings FB Jerome Felton told KFAN’s AJ Mansour “once the game gets started you don’t think about the weather.”

From the sounds of things, the Vikings aren’t going to let the players and coaches use the weather for an excuse if things go poorly on Sunday.  And hopefully they don’t go poorly, because a Vikings win would put them right back at .500 for the season.
