Legendary Minnesota Vikings head coach Bud Grant will be the focus point of a Minneapolis ceremony on the first of December this year.  As proposed earlier in the year, the 900 block of South 7th Street will be renamed in honor of Mr. Bud Grant on December 1, 2014.

The dedication will happen one day after the Minnesota Vikings take on the Carolina Panthers at TCF Bank Stadium.  While the team will play their home games at the University of Minnesota for the rest of this season and all of next season, when the new stadium opens fans will be able to go to the dedicated area and pay tribute to the man who led the Vikings to four Super Bowl appearances under his guidance since it will be right next to the site.

Bud Grant also has many other accomplishments with Minnesota, including the most regular season wins (151), the most playoff wins (10) and best regular season win percentage (63.5%) of any Vikings head coach in franchise history.

This is a great way to honor the history of the Minnesota Vikings while hopefully encouraging newer and younger fans of the team to learn about the rich culture that the team has to offer.

If you are in the area, this is a must-see for Vikings fans.  Legendary Minnesota player Jim Marshall will be on hand along with Mark and Zygi Wilf, and even Bud Grant himself!  Also on hand will be emcee and Vikings alum Bob Lurtsema, City Council Member Jacob Frey, NFL Executive Joe Brown, Minneapolis Star Tribune’s Sid Hartman, and Bud Grant’s son and head coach of Eden Prairie, Mike Grant.
