Adrian Peterson Likely To Win Appeal According to Peter King (And No One Else)

In one of his little MMQB items, Peter King offered up a shred of hope to the segment of Vikings Nation that still wants to see Adrian Peterson on the field in purple this year.

Unfortunately, King seems to be about the only person willing to offer such a rosy assessment of Peterson’s prospects for returning.

King wrote:

"With Peterson likely (but not certain) to be reinstated by a league appeals officer, Harold Henderson, next week, the ball would be in Minnesota’s court as to whether to activate him for the final three games of the year. We’ll hear lots about it this weekend, including whether the Vikings’ coaching side is on the same page with the Vikings’ front-office."

What does Peter King know that no one else seems to know?

Because when you look around for other takes on this, it’s hard to find one single media person willing to predict a “likely” reinstatement for Peterson. Most seem to believe Peterson will remain suspended for the rest of the season.

As Rotoworld points out, appeals officer Harold Henderson has a record of mostly ruling against players. So it would be somewhat of an upset if Peterson’s appeal actually results in reinstatement.

And as King points out, even if Peterson is reinstated by the league, the Vikings may not want him back on the field for them. Reinstatement could lead the Vikings to cut Peterson, which would open the door for him to sign with a contender.

Despite King’s prediction, the chances of Peterson playing for Minnesota again this year – or ever – seem at best remote.
