Teddy Bridgewater Is The Minnesota Vikings’ Quarterback

The Minnesota Vikings have started eight different quarterbacks since the 2010 NFL season.  Players like Joe Webb, Josh Freeman and Tarvaris Jackson have came and gone, but the team was always looking for the long term answer at quarterback that had eluded them for so long.  But it finally appears as though Minnesota may have found a guy they can get behind.

In a recent article by the Star Tribune, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer spoke his praises for Teddy Bridgewater and gave him the nod for the starting quarterback job for the 2015 season.

"“Teddy is the quarterback, there’s no doubt in my mind,” Zimmer said. “He’s the quarterback regardless of, I won’t say that.”"

For the first time in a long time, the Vikings won’t be looking for a starting caliber quarterback in the NFL Draft. After missing on every quarterback selected in the draft since Daunte Culpepper and bringing in tons of veteran free agents, the Vikings have finally found their passer in Teddy Bridgewater.  This helps make it easier on draft day, when Minnesota can look to other positions to improve.

"“I think we’re fortunate in the fact that we learned an awful lot about Teddy this year and the progress that he’s made,” Zimmer said. “He’s still got to get a lot better to get to where we want to go. He’s got to improve in the offseason and things like that, but yeah, I think it will allow the focus to move to another spot, other spots, not one spot, but other spots, we’ve got a lot of spots we’ve got to get better at. I think that helps solidify probably the number one question that was going on at this point in time last year.”"

Last year, the Vikings seemed to strike gold with the drafting of Anthony Barr and Teddy Bridgewater in the first round.  This year, Minnesota holds the number 11 pick in the draft and could find themselves in position to draft another stud.  It’s just nice that it won’t have to be a first round quarterback for the third time in five years.
