2015 NFL Draft Profile: Alvin Dupree, DE Kentucky

facebooktwitterreddit

Kentucky pass rusher Alvin Dupree is a genetic freak with a ton of natural athletic ability.  When you combine that with solid pass rush techniques, you get a player that can disrupt the game on multiple levels whether his hand is in the dirt or if he’s standing up.

He’ll need to get stronger to compete at the NFL level.  While he dominated NCAA competition with his natural talents, he’ll need to get tougher both physically and when in run support.  Like many talented pass rushers, he has a tendency to over pursue and pull himself right out of plays at times.

Alvin “Bud” Dupree has a keen eye for the ball, but can still be slow in play recognition.  This is something that can be worked on with a good coaching staff after being selected.  He’s going to be a day one selection at the 2015 NFL Draft and make some team very happy with the solid pass rusher that they get.  Plus, if they can polish him up and get him a little stronger, he could be an every down player.

Fit For The Vikings

Minnesota is always looking for pass rushers and Alvin Dupree would fit right in.  However, the Vikings already have a player that is handing the role that he would play in Anthony Barr.

My Take

In my opinion, I see Dupree as a best for for a team running a 3-4 defense.  I said the same thing about Anthony Barr before the Vikings drafted him, but Minnesota seems to be bringing him along just well, so I could be quite wrong on that.  Despite that, Alvin “Bud” Dupree is a natural talent that will some team, if not the Vikings, very happy on draft day.
