Former Vikings RB Chuck Foreman: ‘I Should Be In The Hall Of Fame’

Former Minnesota Vikings running back Chuck Foreman is 64 years old now, but that doesn’t stop him from continuing to love what he does.  When he was a member of the Minnesota Vikings, he brought passion and excitement to the team.  And after he retired from football, he brought that same kind of energy to being a substitute teacher and his business of running a commercial cleaning service.

In a recent interview on the Pioneer Press website, Chuck Foreman talked about being a substitute teacher as well as looked back at his career in the National football league.

Here’s what he said about the kids that he teaches in Bloomington, Minnesota:

"“They say things like, ‘Mr. Foreman, you’re the real deal.”’"

And he’s right.  Chuck Foreman is the real deal.  The former first round draft pick of the Vikings back in 1973 had one heck of a career in the NFL, accumulating 5,590 rushing yards and scoring 53 touchdowns in his 8 NFL seasons.  He also had three consecutive seasons where he rushed for over 1,000 yards (1975-1977).

While having the admiration of kids is one thing, earning the respect of the people who vote on the nominees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame is another.  Chuck Foreman may be a fan favorite among the fanbase in Minnesota, he hasn’t quite got the attention of the people who vote on the Hall of Fame.

But Chuck Foreman thinks that he should be part of that elite group of professional football players.

"“There’s no question I should be in the Hall of Fame. I know I’m deserving, and I should be in there.”"

There is no questioning that Chuck Foreman is an important part of the Minnesota Vikings history, but has he accomplished enough to be a part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame?  Let me know what you guys think in the comments below.
