Adrian Peterson Day Will Be ‘Bigger’ This Year

It comes as no surprise that Adrian Peterson is a no-show as the Vikings begin their first OTA sessions of the year.

If you know anything about Peterson, it should also come as no surprise that the running back is expected to be on-hand for Adrian Peterson Day festivities in Palestine, TX.

Adrian Peterson loves nothing more than to be shown love. And nobody loves Peterson more than his hometown.

This year, Adrian Peterson Day is expected to be an even more lavish affair than usual, according to some of the locals (via St. Paul Pioneer-Press):

"Adrian Peterson Day is set for June 13 in Palestine. Kenneth Abrams, a family friend, told the Pioneer Press on Tuesday that Peterson is expected to attend the event that has been held annually since 2007.“Adrian will be there; that’s the plan,” Abrams said. “It will be business as usual. We’re a small town (of about 18,000) and everybody supports him, but I think it will be bigger this year.”"

I’d be interested to hear from any Palestine, TX residents who think it’s a bit of a travesty to celebrate Peterson given everything that came out about him last year.

Sure, a lot of people in Palestine support Peterson. He is their favorite son after all. But I’m guessing there are plenty of people in that town, and all over Adrian Peterson Country in Texas and Oklahoma, who don’t believe this guy is worth celebrating.

And by the way, I have no idea what a “bigger” Adrian Peterson Day even is. More camels maybe?
