Mike Wallace is Tweaking After Missing the Playoffs Three Straight Years

Vikings wide receiver Mike Wallace hasn’t gotten a sweet taste of the playoffs since 2011 when he was with Pittsburgh.

After a three year absence from the postseason, Wallace has compared himself to a methhead in dire need of a hook up (via USA Today):

"Yeah. I’m tweaking. That’s why I say frustration comes in. When you’re used to something when you first come in — you’re used to going to the playoffs, Super Bowl — it’s frustrating when you’re not getting there. It’s time to get back. That’s the ultimate goal is the Super Bowl for everybody. That’s all you want to do. We don’t play this game to go the playoffs. You don’t play this game to go home the first of January. You play this game to be the last team standing and, hopefully, we can get there."

After two years floundering in Miami, Wallace is hoping that a move to Minnesota can provide him with the postseason fix he needs.

Of course Wallace never really wanted to move to Minnesota but Miami sent him there in a salary-dump trade, but it is what it is (or at least that’s what I’m told).

With Adrian Peterson now in the building, prognosticators are beginning to like the Vikings’ chances to get to the playoffs. Wallace, whether he emerges as a deep threat or not, figures to be a major part of the Vikings’ effort as well.

At the end of the day though the key factor will be Teddy Bridgewater. If Bridgewater continues to grow as a QB, the Vikings will have a great chance to make the postseason.

If Mike Wallace wants to quiet his jones for postseason play, he needs to do all he can to help Bridgewater. That includes having a counter-intuitive response and keeping his mouth shut if things don’t necessarily go the way he wants.
