Vikings WR Charles Johnson Still Not Secure In His Position

Lately, there has been a lot of hype surrounding Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Charles Johnson.  There is talk around the NFL that he is a great candidate for having a breakout year in the team’s offense during the 2015 season.  However, Johnson isn’t willing to let all that positive attention get to his head.

Charles Johnson knows how volatile the NFL can be.  He discussed just that in a recent article by the Star Tribune’s Master Tesfatsion.

"“In this business, you’re never secure. You never want to lie down and say, ‘Hey, I made it.’ I’m always working, and we’re always working together. Nobody here has been handed anything, and we’re just ready to come out here and work and become the best players we can be.”"

It’s just that kind of work ethic that has helped Charles Johnson become the potential that he could become.  He’s had to overcome multiple injuries, coming from a small school, releases, and being placed on practice squads and injured reserve, but none of that stopped him from pursuing his dreams.

And, from the sound of things, Charles Johnson sees a good chance to succeed in Minnesota with second year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater showing great potential during his development going into his second NFL season.

"“When I was with Green Bay and first went to practice and seen how Aaron Rodgers orchestrated the offense, it wowed me and amazed me. He’s one of the great quarterbacks in this league. I know Teddy’s look up to him as another player to watch, and I can see Teddy growing in that aspect. I can see him having the same type of similarities that Aaron Rodgers demands when he gets to the huddle.”"

In addition, both Teddy Bridgewater and Charles Johnson will have the added benefit of having former NFL MVP running back Adrian Peterson returning to the backfield, a luxury that neither player got to experience during their 2015 regular season with the Vikings.

Hopefully, Charles Johnson can break out this season and realize his potential. Then, maybe he’ll finally be able to find his jerseys on the store shelves.
