Teddy Bridgewater is shaky in first half for Vikings

Teddy Bridgewater didn’t play particularly well for most of last week’s game against the Bears but turned it on in the end when the Vikings needed it most.

That Bridgewater late-redemption narrative appears to be playing itself out for a second straight week.

The Vikings’ QB was not particularly good in the first half today against the Rams. In fact, it’s not a stretch to say he was the main reason the Vikings went into the half trailing 15-10.

Through two quarters Bridgewater was just 9-of-14 for 83 yards. Most of his missed passes were bad misses targeted in the direction of Mike Wallace.

And Wallace was open on all of these bad throws.

You can’t really blame Bridgewater’s lack of accuracy on a big-time pass rush either. The Vikings’ QB had room and time to operate through most of the half.

More from The Viking Age

The wind may have been somewhat of a factor especially in the second quarter when the Vikings were going into the face of the breeze.

Make any excuses you want for Bridgewater: he did not play well in the first half.

The best thing you can say for Bridgewater’s effort is, at least he didn’t throw a terrible pick to hand the opposition free points like last week.

Bridgewater of course has shown a knack for getting over his struggles and delivering in the clutch.

The Vikings like Bridgewater’s ability to recover from a poor performance and turn his fortunes around late, but I’m sure they’d prefer he find some consistency across the course of the entire game.

Getting outplayed by Nick Foles through two quarters is nothing to be proud of.
