Teddy Bridgewater suffered a massive brain fart when he tried to throw left-handed and got picked off but at least he was able to joke about it after the game.

Sunday night was not Teddy Bridgewater’s brightest moment as an NFL QB. Is it unfair to say Bridgewater kind of stunk the place up against Green Bay?

Bridgewater only attempted 19 passes, completing ten of them for a paltry 99 yards.

Eighteen of those pass attempts were right-handed and one of them was left-handed. The left-handed one would have been a much bigger story had the Vikings not prevailed over Green Bay.

At the 6:35 mark of the third quarter with the Vikings facing third-and-five, Bridgewater attempted to improvise a left-handed throw to Mike Wallace.

The pass was picked off in impressive acrobatic fashion by Packers safety Micah Hyde.

We can laugh about it now but this was a truly god-awful decision by Bridgewater. Teddy has mostly avoided these kinds of mistakes but last night, I guess he just had a brain fart?

Like I said, we can laugh about it because the Vikings won. But I imagine Mike Zimmer was not laughing when he talked to Bridgewater about the play.

Bridgewater himself addressed the mistake in a post-game tweet. He doesn’t mention the play specifically but everyone knows what he’s talking about.

Teddy Bridgewater is a good player who has been a big part of the Vikings’ late season push to the playoffs, but Sunday night he was terrible.

Had the Vikings lost last night’s game, everyone would be screaming today about Bridgewater’s multiple mistakes, including his bad hand-off to Adrian Peterson. They would be screaming especially loud about his left-handed pass attempt.

Statistically, Sunday night was Bridgewater’s worst game of the season. His 52.6% completion percentage and 45.7 passer rating were both his lowest marks of the year.

On the biggest stage, Bridgewater laid his biggest egg. But the Vikings still won because their defense was dominating and they did just enough in the running game.

Beating the Seahawks will require more than just great defense and a little running. Teddy Bridgewater is going to have to contribute. As a right-handed quarterback.
