Minnesota Vikings named Pat Shurmur new tight ends coach

The Minnesota Vikings have finally revealed their job for recent hire Pat Shurmur, as we was named the team’s tight ends coach starting for the 2016 season.

The shakeup of the Minnesota Vikings coaching staff seems to be nearly complete, as the Minnesota Vikings recently announced the role that newly hired coach Pat Shurmur will play for the team.

Amid much speculation that Shurmur was in Minnesota to push offensive coordinator Norv Turner out the door, it appears as though he team had much different ideas in mind for the veteran coach who has held two former head coaching jobs in the past.

According to a post on Vikings.com, Pat Shurmur will be the new Minnesota Vikings tight ends coach. Shurmur is known for being strict when it comes to limiting turnovers on offense and increasing the scoring output among tight ends.

Former tight ends coach Kevin Stefanski will take over the running backs coach position that was open when Kirby Wilson decided to take the same job in Cleveland for the Browns. Here is that announcement from the official Twitter account of the Minnesota Vikings:

Shurmur’s experience will be valuable to many units on the Minnesota Vikings team. Aside from being a head coach and offensive coordinator, he has coached the offensive line, special teams and tight ends. With all the coaching experience on the Minnesota Vikings, there will be a lot of valuable information available for the entire staff and a young Vikings team.

As of now, the Minnesota Vikings are still looking to replace the hole on their staff when strength and conditioning coach Evan Marcus was let go. But, as it currently stands, the Vikings coaching staff looks to be  a formidable group that should be able to lead this young team for many, many years.
