Alex Boone will reportedly sign a free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Minnesota Vikings have reached agreement with free agent guard Alex Boone.

The 28-year-old Boone was a Pro Bowler for San Francisco in 2013 and again in 2015. He came into the league in 2009 as an undrafted free agent after playing his college ball at Ohio State.

Boone made $3.73 million last year in San Francisco. Financial details on his Vikings contract have not yet been disclosed but I’m guessing Boone will be making somewhat more than $3.73 million this year in Minnesota.

Current Vikings offensive line coach Tony Sparano is familiar with Boone, having coached tight ends with Boone’s old team the 49ers in 2015.

Boone will presumably step in and play left guard for the Vikings. Brandon Fusco played that position last year and struggled mightily.

Next: Iloka returns to Cincinnati

The Vikings were as of yesterday still negotiating with right guard Mike Harris who is said to be seeking $5 million for two years, but it appears now the Vikings will move on from Harris and flip Brandon Fusco back to right guard. Fusco performed well at right guard two years ago and moving back to that position could help him regain his form.

The Vikings also reportedly will retain left tackle Matt Kalil who is set to make $11.1 million for 2016. When Matt gets back from hunting birds with Teddy Bridgewater, someone can tell him that he will have a new guy lining up to his right.

Update: Mike Harris is reportedly mulling a return to Minnesota on a new one-year contract.
