The Minnesota Vikings focused on improving the offense in free agency and the 2016 NFL Draft, and that greatly pleases running back Adrian Peterson.

Last season, the Minnesota Vikings won a lot of games by using a conservative offense and a stingy defense. This year, the team hopes to pick up the offense considerably and put the team in position to get more victories by putting more points on the board.

This is was the game plan of the Minnesota Vikings, as they went out in free agency and picked up some new faces on the offensive line, such as the bruiser Alex Boone, and used their first round draft pick on dynamic pass catcher Laquon Treadwell.

In a recent article on Vikings.com, former NFL MVP and three-time NFL regular season rushing leader Adrian Peterson talked about two of those major pieces, starting with guard Alex Boone:

"“A guy who has that grit and that mentality, that hog mentality,” Peterson said. “You’re going to get the best out of him. That’s something that I feel is going to benefit our team in general and the offensive line. Him bringing that nastiness and mentality that I feel you need to play the game of football. There’s not a lot of guys that naturally have that, and he has it.”"

But Peterson wasn’t done spreading the hype and praise of his new teammates. Rookie wide receiver Laquon Treadwell offers a skill set that the Minnesota Vikings haven’t had in a long time, and one of those skills in particular makes the Vikings running back a very happy man.

"“I’m pretty excited about it. He’s a big, physical receiver. In my eyes, the most important thing is he likes to block (laughs),” Peterson said. “That’s always a plus for me, a receiver that blocks well and is passionate about blocking. I’m always down for that. I’m sure he’ll be one of my new good buds. Obviously, what he brings in the passing game is the threat of a big bodied receiver. He knows how to use his body, how to position himself to make plays, so it’s going to be all about him learning the system and transitioning to the NFL, so I’m pretty excited about it.”"

Hopefully, these new additions to the offense can pay dividends for the team and help Adrian Peterson become the NFL’s leading rusher for the fourth time.
