Cantor Technology released their betting spreads for the NFL’s first 16 weeks of the NFL season, and the Minnesota VIkings are getting a lot of love.

It looks like the secret is out. The Minnesota Vikings are actually a good team with a solid defense and evolving offense that everyone will have to take seriously during the 2016 NFL season. However, the amount of love that the team is getting is somewhat staggering.

For example Las Vegas odds company Cantor Technology is known for their predictions on NFL point spreads, but very few Minnesota Vikings fans could have expected the numbers that would accompany their early spreads for the 2016 NFL season.

Here is the list of spreads for the first 16 weeks of the NFL season (week 17 not included due to flex scheduling) as shared by ESPN:

  • Week 1: Minnesota (-3, 43) at Titans
  • Week 2: Packers at Minnesota (PK)
  • Week 3: Minnesota at Panthers (-5.5)
  • Week 4: Giants at Minnesota (-6)
  • Week 5: Texans at Minnesota (-6)
  • Week 6: BYE
  • Week 7: Minnesota (-1.5) at Eagles
  • Week 8: Minnesota (-2.5) at Bears
  • Week 9: Lions at Minnesota (-6.5)
  • Week 10: Minnesota (-1.5) at Redskins
  • Week 11: Cardinals at Minnesota (-1.5)
  • Week 12: Minnesota (-2.5) at Lions
  • Week 13: Cowboys at Minnesota (-4.5)
  • Week 14: Minnesota (-2.5) at Jaguars
  • Week 15: Colts at Minnesota (-4)
  • Week 16: Minnesota at Packers (-4.5)

As you can see, the only two weeks that the Minnesota Vikings aren’t favored or in a pick ’em situation are week 3 against the Carolina Panthers and week 16 against the Green Bay Packers. Both games are road games, and in both of the matchups, the Vikings are underdogs by at least 4.5 points.

Interestingly enough, some of the biggest spreads are games that should be highly competitive. For example, the week 9 spread favoring the Vikings over the Lions by approximately a touchdown seems a bit generous and the Cowboys will likely be better this year than last. However, it is always nice to see the Vikings getting some positive attention these days.

Looking at these numbers is fun, but of course football games are won on the football field and not on paper. Each of these games will be a challenge going forward, but odds are that the Minnesota Vikings will be ready to take on any comers during the 2016 NFL season.
