The Minnesota Vikings may have to do without starting left guard Alex Boone for the team’s week 4 contest against the New York Giants on Monday night.

During week 3 against the Carolina Panthers, Minnesota Vikings left guard Alex Boone left the game with an injury. He was carted off the field and the team scheduled an MRI on his hip to determine the severity of the damage done.

Thankfully, the hip doesn’t seem like it will be a long-term issue for Boone. In fact, earlier this week, head coach Mike Zimmer stated that he was hopeful the bruising lineman would return for the week 4 game against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.

Sadly, Boone has yet to return to practice for the team. Since it is early in the week, the Minnesota Vikings don’t have to designate a status on the injury report and he is only listed as “Did Not Participate” with a designation as “hip”.

In the event that Boone is unable to play, the Pioneer Press states that Jeremiah Sirles will probably be the man for the starting left guard position, as he did an admirable job filling in during last week.

"“If Boone can’t go, he likely would be replaced by Jeremiah Sirles, who replaced Boone in the second quarter against the Panthers. Sirles practiced Thursday with the first team.”"

Boone’s name isn’t the only one on the list of players who didn’t practice so far this week according to the injury report on the official Minnesota Vikings team website. Joining him are fullback Zach Line, tight end David Morgan, and defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd.

While there is still a lot of time left before Monday Night Football’s game between the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants, it is great for the team to get Jeremiah Sirles some reps with the first team offense before heading into week 4’s game just in case Boone will have to watch from the sidelines.
