The Minnesota Vikings official placed offensive tackle Jake Long in injured reserve and have signed free agent Rashod Hill to take his spot on the roster.

As expected, the Achilles tendon injury to Minnesota Vikings offensive tackle Jake Long proved to be serious. In fact, the team has made the move to put the former #1 overall draft pick on injured reserve, effectively ending his season.

However, the Vikings weren’t done there. They also made the announcement that offensive tackle Rashod Hill was added to the team’s main roster to take the vacant spot left by placing Long on IR.

The announcement was made on the team’s official Twitter account today, verifying that the transactions were indeed made:

For those not familiar with Rashod Hill, here is a little background info on him from the official website of the Minnesota Vikings:

"“Hill, who joined Jacksonville as a rookie free agent in May, was signed off the Jaguars practice squad to Minnesota’s 53-man roster. He spent one game this season on the active roster of his hometown team but did not play against Baltimore.More from The Viking Age6 biggest draft steals in Minnesota Vikings historyFormer Vikings first-round pick could reportedly return to NFC NorthBears analyst has extremely embarrassing Kirk Cousins take6 Vikings who (maybe) won’t make the 53-man roster in 2023Predicting what the Vikings will do in the 2023 NFL Draft based on 2022Hill (6-foot-6, 303 pounds) helped Ed White High School win the 2010 District 4-4A Championship before playing at Southern Miss. Hill could get some looks due to the unbelievably short list of talent available to the Vikings right now. However, it is still expected that Jeremiah Sirles and T.J. Clemmings will get the nod as the starters until another change is made.

Hopefully, Jake Long can make a full recovery and return to top form. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how Rashod Hill fits into the team and what kind of looks he gets from the coaching staff going forward.
