Zimmer on Treadwell’s future with the Vikings: ‘I feel good about Laquon’
By Adam Patrick
Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer spoke to the media on Thursday and discussed his faith in the team’s 2016 first-round pick.
Heading into the 2016 season, the expectations for rookie wide receiver Laquon Treadwell were not sky high, but some thought he would be able to contribute to the offense at least.
Well his rookie year did not exactly go according to plan as the wide receiver played in only nine games and finished with just one catch for 15 yards. Not exactly the output Minnesota was hoping for when they selected him with their first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
On Thursday, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer took some time to speak to the media in attendance at this year’s NFL Scouting Combine and he does not think there is too much to worry about with Treadwell just yet.
"“He’s an extremely conscientious kid that works really hard. He has been nagged a little bit with this ankle, so he’s just a guy that has to get better. I feel good about Laquon.”– Mike Zimmer, Vikings head coach"
Zimmer’s comments have to at least be a little uplifting for the wide receiver as he prepares for the 2017 season. There was a reason why Minnesota chose Treadwell in the first round last year and they still believe that he will prove to be worth their investment.
The wide receiver could very well see his role in the offense increase next season depending on if the Vikings decide to re-sign Cordarrelle Patterson and keep Jarius Wright on the roster for 2017.

Role increase or not, it seems safe to assume that Treadwell will be able to finish next season with more than just a single catch.
