Adrian Peterson apparently wants way more money than he is worth

Reports have been circulating that the former Minnesota Vikings running back has yet to sign with a new team because he is asking for too high of a salary.

A few days ago, former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson celebrated his 32nd birthday. It was one of the few things Peterson has been able to celebrate recently as he has still not signed a contract for the 2017 NFL season since he became a free-agent back on March 9.

Well according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, there may be a central reason for why the running back is still without a contract.

Peterson, who thought he was worth the $18 million he was scheduled to earn in 2017 with the Vikings, apparently still thinks he should be paid like one of the NFL’s top running backs. However, he may be the only one in the league who believes in this theory.

    • In his report, Fowler cited a source that Peterson has been asking for, “more than $8 million in the first year of a contract.”

    Back in the day, the running back may have been able to easily get that amount of money. But not a year after he missed 13 games with a knee injury and averaged just 1.9 yards per carry in the three games he actually appeared in.

    Peterson has only met with the Seattle Seahawks since free agency began this offseason and they opted to sign former Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy instead.

    Minnesota has already replaced his spot on the roster with Latavius Murray, so Peterson is running out of teams to join as the days continue to pass by.

    Next: Vikings waive former third-round draft pick

    If he remains unsigned after the NFL Draft in April, that may be the wake up call he needs in order to adjust his asking price and get back on an NFL roster.

    UPDATE: Peterson took to social media late Friday night to respond to the claims of his free agency desires.
