Preparation for the 2017 season is set to begin later this month for the Minnesota Vikings as they attempt to improve upon last year’s 8-8 record.

If it seems like the 2016 NFL season just ended, it is because it did. The Atlanta Falcons gave up a 25-point lead in the Super Bowl to the New England Patriots on February 5 and less than two months later, teams are already back out on the practice field preparing for next season.

The Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Chargers began their offseason workout programs on Monday as teams with first-year head coaches are allowed to start their preparations for the upcoming season earlier than teams with a returning head coach.

For the Minnesota Vikings, the first day of their offseason workout program will begin on April 17. They will hold a number of OTAs (organized team activities) on various dates from May 23 to June 15 and the Vikings mandatory minicamp is scheduled to last from June 13 to June 15.

Due to their recent surgeries, do not be surprised if both running back Latavius Murray and safety Harrison Smith do not participate in this year’s offseason program until minicamp or even training camp.
