Wide receiver Michael Floyd is trying to work out a deal with a new team soon. The Minnesota Vikings are interested in signing the free agent.

Michael Floyd is hoping that he will not be a free agent for much longer. After talking with several teams he hopes to have a deal soon. The Minnesota Vikings are one of the teams in the running. Floyd is an excellent candidate to give the Vikings a deep threat at wide receiver.

The Vikings have an advantage that no other team in the NFL can offer. Floyd grew up in Minnesota and graduated from one of Minnesota’s power house high schools Cretin-Derham Hall. If signed, Floyd will start with a strong fan base that wants to see him excel and stay out of trouble.

The last year has been rocky for Michael Floyd. The free agent is not completely free yet. He is currently serving a 120 day jail sentence for a DUI he was arrested for on December 12th, 2016. After the arrest Floyd was released by the Arizona Cardinals. Then he was signed by the New England Patriots where he caught four passes during the regular season and one during the playoffs for the 2016 Super Bowl champions.

Can Michael Floyd help the Vikings?

If Floyd can put his legal issues behind him, the Minnesota Vikings will get an excellent receiver that will likely sign a deal that favors the team. In 2015 Floyd caught 6 touchdowns with 849 yards receiving. That type of production will make him an excellent fit to take pressure off Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.

Floyd is an excellent athletic receiver that will force defenses to respect the Vikings receiving core as a whole. After the departure of Cordarrelle Patterson and Charles Johnson, the Vikings are in need of another option for quarterback Sam Bradford. Furthermore, Laquon Treadwell and Jarius Wright have not shown anything promising. The Vikings also drafted Rodney Adams and Stacy Coley but rookies are hard to gauge at this point.

Next: Armstrong to try multiple positions for the Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings will know soon if Floyd wants to play for his hometown team. Playing for the Vikings will give Michael Floyd an opportunity to shine in front of the people who have been watching him since he was young and put him in a position to rebuild his image in the NFL.
