Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Laquon Treadwell has been hearing some of the negative things people have been saying, but he isn’t about to get him down.

When a player is a first round draft pick, expectations can be very high. That is the case for wide receiver Laquon Treadwell when he was chosen at #23 overall by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The hope was that Treadwell could come in and be an immediate impact player who adds a red zone target as well as an open field threat to a team struggling to find an identity on the offensive side of the ball.

However, that wasn’t the case. Treadwell ended the 2016 dealing with nagging injuries and only catching one pass for 15 yards. This has opened the wide receiver up to loads of criticism from fans and experts, but it hasn’t gotten him down.

Recently, Laquon Treadwell spoke about hearing these negative things about him, including calling him a bust, in a recent article on the Pioneer Press website:

"“(The talk) doesn’t irk me at all because I go out there every day and I know what I can do and I see my potential and I see everything right in front of me, so I don’t really worry about the naysayers,” Treadwell said."

While some Vikings fans are ready to throw in the towel on Treadwell, there is still a lot of potential yet to see. If he can return healthy and develop chemistry with quarterback Sam Bradford, there is a lot of hope he can still be the weapon Minnesota hoped he could be.

Meanwhile, Treadwell himself believes 2017 offers a great opportunity for him to do positive things on the field.

"“I believe a lot of things are going to happen that nobody expects from me,” he said."

The addition of several wide receivers in the 2017 NFL Draft and the signing of free agent Michael Floyd may make it even more of a challenge for Treadwell, but he seems open to the challenge.

"“My future depends on me, what I do on the field, so I can’t really worry about (Floyd).”"
