Rookies and several veterans stepped out on the field in Mankato on Monday for the very first day of Minnesota Vikings training camp.

It seems like the Minnesota Vikings’ 2016 season just ended yesterday. But believe it or not, it has been almost eight months since the last time the team played in an actual game.

There were no games played on Monday, but almost 40 members of the Vikings’ current roster took the field in Mankato, Minnesota for the team’s very first practice of this year’s training camp.

Only rookies and a few veterans are present at camp right now, so the level of play out on the field is not exactly the highest. But the team’s top veterans not being present on Monday did actually allow for a number of the lesser-known players on the Vikings’ roster to shine out on the practice field.
