In a conference call ahead of his scheduled second MMA fight, former Viking running back Walker said he knows he could help an NFL team, claiming he is still fast enough to run a 40 in under 4.5 seconds. Walker said he’d love to make an NFL comeback at the age of 50, becoming the George Foreman of football.

Walker went on to say that, if he does attempt his unlikely comeback, he’d like to do it with either the Vikings or Falcons (he went to college in Georgia). Walker mentioned his disappointing stint with the Vikings in the early ’90s and said he’d like to return and, this time, give the fans their money’s worth.

I suppose there are some who would regard the sight of a 50-year-old man attempting to play a violent sport alongside 25-year-olds as something worth shelling out money for, but to me it would be nothing more than a pathetic spectacle. Thankfully, I’m sure Herschel was only dreaming out loud when he talked about his comeback, and is not actually serious about it.

I think I speak for most Viking fans when I say I got my fill of Herschel the first time. Just the mention of his name is enough to make one puke.
