Wait…27 to 33? Yes you read that right. This game was closer and far more entertaining than almost anyone thought it would be.

Vikings led this game going into halftime, 17-13 then it went south from there and then back north for a bit. The Vikings came out in the second half and gave up a touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers to Greg Jennings in which Jennings walked into the endzone from the 30 yard line. The Vikings secondary was without Chris Cook (incarcerated) and Antoine Winfield (injury) and many thought this unit would struggle against the high powered passing Packers offense and they did not disappoint. In typical Vikings fashion they also racked up their share of penalties. Purple were penalized 9 times for 91 yards. All of that said, the Vikings did make it close at the end with a couple defensive stops and decent play from Ponder. In the end, the Packers passing game gave way to their serviceable running game to ice the game.

Packers week and you’re just dying to know what we think the outcome will be. We are here to serve. Here’s how we see the final scoreboard:

Jon: Packers 48-10

Brad: Packers 31 Vikings 16: Some people might think I sound like an idiot, but Green Bay’s defense doesn’t impress me that much. They give up a lot of yards and they aren’t great against the run. I only say that because I don’t agree with those who think Christian Ponder is going to be overwhelmed by the defending champions. A part of me wants to think that this could be that one huge-effort game that bad teams sometimes come up with (like the 2002 Vikings, who were 2-7 but beat the 8-1 Packers), but I’m not getting my hopes up.

Now Purples Nurples, you know, that I am the Grand Pooba of the Purple Church of Optimism. I predicted that the Purple and Gold would go 10-6 in the preseason. You know that it took me a little while to participate in the “everyone dog pile Donovan” game. You know that I have yet to call for Leslie head. Admittedly I am down on Musgrave, but even then, I concede that he must be given some time. So a Gargamel I am not. What I’m about to share with you is not a reversal of my attitude toward our beloved Vikings but more of a commentary on this particular matchup come Sunday. With that said, Dearly Beloved… this game is going to get ugly. Keep in mind, I hate the Packers with a perfect hate, but even I cannot ignore how great the Green, yellow, and Hunter Orange look. Back to the ugliness…
