Brett Favre may be a waffler par excellence, but even he knows that time is running out for him to make a decision on his potential future career with the Vikings.

Favre conveyed this sense of urgency through his agent Bus Cook, who spoke to ESPN’s Rachel Nichols on the phone Monday morning. Nichols tweeted about the no-doubt pleasant exchange:

Just spoke with agent Bus Cook, who tlked to Favre this morning. Brett still thinking things over, but knows decision has to come quite soon

Were I Brad Childress, I would call Brett today or tomorrow and just lay it on the line for him. And “lay it on the line” doesn’t necessarily mean demanding that he show up for camp. It does mean pressing him to give an answer so the Vikes can get him signed, get the news out there and be done with the thing for awhile. And if he does want to skip camp? Well, just let the big baby skip camp. No use having him around there sulking.

Zygi Wilf and Brad Childress both offered their reaction to Brett Favre‘s comments on Joe Buck Live (neither had anything to say about Artie Lange turning Buck’s show into an episode of Howard Stern). First Wilf:

We will do the most we can to get the players we need to be a better team. If that means Brett Favre or means sombody else, we’ll go after them. We’ll just have to wait and see. Right now it’s all up to Brett Favre to determine what his future is.

And Chilly:

[Favre] said everything that he needed to say. He’s trying to make a push to get back. I know he won’t play unless he feels like he’s capable of playing at level he’s played over the course of his career.

There’s no downside to good players. As far as distractions, if distractions are good football players, we’ll take all the distractions.

The fun is all gone from this story for sure. Once Favre confirmed he was coming back…over. Nothing but generic statements from here on in. There isn’t even any fake dirt for Ed Werder to dig up. And there’s certainly no longer any point in dispatching Rachel Nichols to Mississippi to stand around waiting for Favre to appear, like a Yeti. That was futile anyway; Favre said on Joe Buck that, when he saw the satellite trucks, he just snuck out of his house through the back door. ESPN couldn’t figure out that he had a back door? Now I know how Woody Paige and Skip Bayless remain employed by that network. They are that clueless.

I really dig these Bob Sansevere profile pieces, and all the insight they give us into our favorite new Vikings. This weekend, Sansevere did the one guy everyone’s most curious about, Percy Harvin. A few of the highlights:

My biggest pet peeve? You know when girls take a shower and they leave their hair in the tub, or they leave hair in the sink and you go to brush your teeth? That irks me. That disturbs me a lot.

The worst thing I did as a kid? My sister is two years older than me. I was about 5 or 6. We had a slanted driveway, and my sister and I were in the car and just playing with the shift. We put it in reverse and we backed up into the neighbor’s house. It ran through the garage, so we had to repair the garage wall.

I never miss “Saved by the Bell.” It comes on at different times during the day.

Yeah, that’s all great. But here’s the line that’s really news:

If I could trade places for a day with anyone, it would be my old (Florida) teammate, Tim Tebow. Some of the stuff and some of the girls and things that were thrown at him. We saw all kind of actors and news reporters just kind of blatantly say, “Tebow, I want you.” And he turned them down. I’m looking at him, like, “Man, you are crazy.”

So Tim Tebow has actors and news reporters throwing themselves at him? Which actors and, most importantly, which reporters? Erin Andrews? Wendy Nix? Rachel Nichols? Somebody needs to go Dick Cheney on Harvin and get this information out of him. My money’s on Nix. She seems like one of those panty-thrower types.
