Brett Favre Will Play Sunday Night

I’m sure this is exactly what NBC had in mind when they added the August 22 Vikings/49ers game to their schedule.

Brett Favre back with the team, and as Brad Childress has now announced, ready to take his first preseason snaps.

It’s almost like they knew something. Not to go all crazy conspiracy theorist on you.

Now that we know Brett will play, the next question is, who will he be throwing to?

Not Sidney Rice and not Percy Harvin. Maybe Brandon Jones or Javon Walker, depending on how their Friday workouts went.

At the rate things are going, Favre could be throwing to Antonio Freeman by Sunday.

Vikings Will Work Out Brandon Jones on Friday

With Sidney Rice still unable to practice, Percy Harvin in the hospital after a migraine attack and Jaymar Johnson waived…the Vikings are looking for a little more receiver help.

That’s why, on Friday, the team will work out former 49ers and Titans wide-out Brandon Jones.

This is the part of the post where I give his stats:

Last year with the Niners, he caught 1 ball for 18 yards. Keep in mind he did not have Brett Favre throwing to him.

In the four previous years in Tennessee – also without Brett Favre throwing to him – Jones caught 112 balls for 1380 yards and 9 TDs.

He is on the street now because the Niners cut him yesterday. If the Vikings like what they see in the work-out and decide to keep him…he will have Brett Favre throwing to him.

Vikings Clinch NFC North on Crazy Packer Loss

If you weren’t watching the Packers-Steelers game, you missed a hell of an ending. With the Steelers down six and no time left on the clock, Ben Roethlisberger found Mike Wallace along the endzone sideline for a beautiful tip-toe catch, capping a nutbag Steeler drive that featured about 15 penalties. The extra point gave the Steelers a thrilling 37-36 victory.

Besides breaking the hearts of Packer fans, the loss clinched the NFC North for the Vikings.

Not that the Vikes wouldn’t have clinched it anyway.

With the division sewn up, the Vikings’ main scenario-related objective tonight is moving a little closer to the Saints for the one seed. The two seed will remain unclinched after the Eagles‘ victory over San Francisco.

And for the Packers…securing a playoff berth will have to wait another week.
